Reasons to have a Carnival of Open Records

Why start a Carnival of Open Records?

Reasons why blog carnivals help promote awareness of a given issue:

They:

  • organize blog posts around important topics
  • improve the overall level of conversation in the blogosphere.
  • come in edited "editions", allowing them to function as the blogosphere's version of edited magazines.
  • carnival hosts can earn their readership by providing high quality collections.
  • they also serve as a place to connect with those who are expert in a field

As of July 2007, there's a relatively small community of bloggers who focus on open records.

Many people are occasionally interested in issues surrounding open records, but they're not obsessive about it, the way you might say these people are.

That means that normal politically-interested blog readers are not going to read these blogs on a regular basis, no matter how scintillating they are.

However, normal politically-interested blog readers would probably be happy to read a "best of open records" compilation from time-to-time, and that's what a Carnival of Open Records provides.

Now that you're absolutely convinced, sign up to host a Carnival of Open Records edition.
